南科大整體景觀設計尊重校園的自然山水本底及深厚的本土文化底蘊，以“山水間人文薈萃，古榕下參天未來”為設計主題；以鼓勵多樣化活動，建設精神文化快速生長的校園，促進思想的相遇，建設交融、交流的校園，為不同人群提供各得其所空間的校園為設計出發點，協同上層規劃，構建出“兩軸三廊一環”（學術主軸、人文景觀軸、學術天街、自然山水廊、大沙河景觀廊、溪流花園環）的景觀格局，旨在建設一個具有南科大特色的精神人文校園、風景如畫校園、綠色生態校園、可持續海綿校園、智慧創新校園、青春釋放校園及全天候人性化校園。
The overall landscape design of South University of Science and Technology respects the natural landscape background of the campus and profound local cultural deposits, with the design theme of “the pleasing landscape gathering galaxy of talents, the ancient towering banyan beckoning to the future.” Proceeding from encouraging diverse activities, boosting rapid growth of spiritual culture, promoting the integration of ideas, building a campus brimming with cultural blending and exchange of thoughts, providing space for people tailoring to their needs. It is conceived to construct a “two axes three corridors and one ring” (main academic axis, humane and landscape axis, academic haven street, natural landscape corridor, great sand river landscape corridor, garden stream ring) landscape pattern, which is in harmony with the upper planning. It aims at building a campus stamped with SUSTC characteristics, featuring humanity and culture, picturesque scenery, green ecology, sustainable sponge, innovation and wisdom, the release of youth and all-weather humanity.
